About the event
Prof. Anne-Christine Davis is a theoretical physicist at the University of Cambridge. She was the first woman to be appointed a professor in the Faculty of Mathematics. Her recent research is in Particle Cosmology. Her current work is on modified gravity theories, such as the chameleon model and related scalar-tensor theories of gravity. She has studied the full cosmological evolution of the chameleon, considered solar system constraints, laboratory constraints and cosmological constrains. She has shown that chameleons could be detected in future Casimir force type experiments. She has also worked on inflation and extra-dimensional theories.
Speaker Dinner Sign-up
After each talk CUWPS will invite the speaker to join the committees for a casual dinner at a local restaurant. This year we would like to share this opportunity with our members, so that we can stimulate networking and conversation both with the speaker, committee members and among the cohort.
However, due to limited dining spaces, we can only offer 5 places to our members. The selection follows a first come first serve basis and will prioritise those who are taking physics/astronomy degrees in Cavendish/IoA and have not attended speaker dinners before. The sign-up closes on Oct 11th 6pm, we will notify those who get selected, with the information on the restaurant and how to get there. Looking forward to seeing you there!
